OBU Welcomes ACMA April 26th

Good morning. Welcome back from the holiday break!

If you’re keeping up with ACMA on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ArkCMA), you’ll notice a lot of national entries must be submitted within the next week or so. You might save time by thinking ahead while sorting for these early deadlines.

The Arkansas College Media Association’s contest entry deadline remains the Friday before Spring Break, i.e. March 15. Entries must physically be received at UCA by 3 p.m. to be eligible — we must sort and mail them to the judges. We’re currently asking advisers to volunteer to update the entry forms.

Jeff and Deborah Root and Ouachita Baptist University’s Communication department will host the 2013 Arkansas College Media Association’s annual conference. The following clips detail areas where we’ll see you Friday, April 26.

Registration will be held at the Hickingbotham Hall auditorium lobby starting at 9:30 a.m. Eat muffins and fruit with juice, coffee and water while things get started, then move into the auditorium for the 10 a.m. opening.

The morning sessions will repeat in the same rooms to provide participants an opportunity to attend two different sessions. The tentative schedule follows:

10:20-11 a.m. Session I

11:10-11:50 a.m. Session 2

As speakers confirm, we’ll add more information here and on the facebook site. Breakout sessions will be held in Lile Hall in the following rooms and labs:

  • 18-person computer lab w/ Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • 25-person computer lab with video-editing capabilities
  • Smart rooms with projection capabilities
  • Collaborative learning room (slot desk)
  • Large room seats 42

The awards luncheon will be catered by OBU food services at noon in the Walker Conference Center.

Many thanks to the Roots for the campus preview!
